Sanzaru Games Race #2 to be a very busy weekend
80 Masters to be Round #2 Feature Race
Race #2 of the Sanzaru Games Karting Championship Series is looking to be a very busy race weekend. In addition to the regular Rotax and shifter class, some schedule adjustments have been made to accommodate Micro/Mini Swift and X30 Tag karts for this one race. With the SKUSA Spring Nationals set to run at the Simraceway International two weeks after Race #2, a number of SKUSA drivers have asked to join Sanzaru's Race #2 to get some track time. Thus some changes have been made to the normal Sanzaru Race Day schedule to allow a number of SKUSA drivers to run Race #2. See the schedules for Saturday Practice and Sunday Race Day on the Sanzaru website for details. The track configuration for this race will also be changing, again, to the Reverse PRO National. Sorry for this last minute change. The featured class for this race will be 80 Masters.
Adding the Micro/Mini Swifts, X30 Tags and SKUSA shifters to the program is for this event only. SKUSA karts can run their normal VP fuel and Evinco tires but there will be no VP fuel and Evinco tires available for sale at the track, thus SKUSA drivers must provide their own VP fuel and Evinco tires. ERC fuel and Hoosier and Vega Purple tires will be available for sale at the track. For Both Pro Stock Honda and Stock Honda Masters, karts can run either ERC or VP fuel and also can run on Evinco, Hoosier R60A or MaxOne by Vega Purple tires for this one race only.
Kid Karts will start their 2017 Sanzaru season at Race #2, running on the Saturday program. This season, the Kid Karts will be running for a championship where it was an exhibition class in 2016. Kid Karts will be using the Honda 4 cycle Kid Kart engine this season with a reported 8 karts showing up at winter testing days.
Based on the turnout for Race #1, the Rotax classes are promising to be competitive with strong turnouts in almost all classes. Junior Rotax looks to be the most exciting class in 2017 with 15 entries last race. Micro Max also has a strong and competitive class in 2017 with 11 drivers at Race #1. With ten drivers in both Senior Rotax and Rotax Masters, these senior classes had very strong and competitive races at Race #1.
The 125 shifter classes had a combined 11 drivers at Race #1, the largest field in some time. With a few SKUSA drivers joining the fun this coming weekend, this class should prove to be an exciting race to watch.
80 Masters had a very good turnout of 9 drivers at Race #1 with 3 regular drivers absent and expected to be there this weekend. This Norcal favorite class should not disappoint this weekend when it lines up as the Featured Class at the end of the Sunday race program.
The race weekend will start with a Practice day on Saturday. All classes will be able to get in as many as seven practice sessions during the day. Practice starts at 8:30 AM and runs to 6:00 PM. Registration will open at 7:30 AM. Practice is open to all drivers who are up to normal racing speeds with a kart that meets current karting safety specifications. Cost is $60 for Practice only. Kid Karts cost is $50, transponder included.
Sunday's race day begins at 8:10 AM with a quick round of practice for the nine race groups followed by a five lap group Qualifying session, two eight lap Pre-Mains and a 15 lap Main. Registration will open at 7:00 AM. Race Entry is $110, $15 for transponder rental if needed, $10 for all crew and spectators, and kids under 12 years old are $5.
